Ive been living in Little Paxton since October 2006 and from September 2007 have been Rural Dean of St Neots.
St James Church at Little Paxton
I have two grown up children, Michael and Adele, who live in London and Coventry respectively and I love it when they come to see me. I really dont know where all the time has gone since they were little.
I was born Annette Richings) in Boscombe near Bournemouth by the sea (July 29th 1954 – at 4.10pm – the day on which The Fellowship of The Ring, the 1st part of Lord of the Rings, was published in the UK. My mother says that I was born in a Nursing Home in a place called Tuckton where Leo Tolstoy wrote War and Peace – but I cant find any evidence for that- though Tolstoy used to stay a lot in Bournemouth.
Some of my earliest memories are of being on Boscombe sands, playing in the waves and pulling on the penny fruit machines with my Grandad Will Trimby helping me. We moved to Portsmouth when I was 9 years old and here is me at Portsmouth Grammar Schhol c 12yrs old.
When I was 13 years old we moved to Oxford and it was there that I fell in love with the Church of England as we lived in Christ Church College where my father was a lodge porter. I used to go to Oxford Cathedral most days for evensong and something got right under my skin and has stayed there ever since…
If I had to define my ” churchmanship” ( always seemed a strange word to me) I would say I am a warm fuzzy Liberal Anglican who delights in welcoming people into the church commuity who ever and however they are. I am pleased when people enjoy coming to worship of any kind, but am equally at home out about and getting involved in the community. I am passionate about church buildings – both in respect of their architecture and also in regards as to how they may be adapted/re-ordered to serve their communities better. Ive been involved in several re-ordering projects over the years and we have three on the go in the Paxton Benefice now. ( See the blog on Diddington)
Love plants and growing things, resoring old furniture, fresh air and music of all kinds. Work too hard – but then I guess I enjoy it a lot.
Please be assured I NEVER name drop in this blog or make out I’m anything special.. hate that sort of thing….
