Paxtonvic’s Blog

Just another weblog

Congratulations – update

To Pam from Diddington on being the winner of the Blog competition. The question was – how many paying visitors come to Ely Cathedral on average every year. The correct answer is of course 250,000 – there were three correct answers and an independent person has just drawn out Pam as the winner. So… Pam, now you will have five free  raffle tickets in this afternoon’s Grand Draw at Great Paxton… we know how to rack up the excitement here in the Benefice!

Talk about LIVING WATER – it chucked it down this am at GP and LP – kind of appropriate maybe for the theme -think it might be getting brighter now..

Here is a prayer which Nick shared with us at LP’s family service:

God of hope and joy, give us a cheerful sense of our blessings.

Make us content with all that you provide for us.

Teach us that nothing can hurt us as you hold us in your mkind and loving hands. Chase gloomy thoughts from our minds and make us glad with the brightness of hope and the light of Jesus Christ. Amen.

The triquetra (sometimes, triqueta) is a tripartate symbol composed of three interlocked vesica pisces, marking the intersection of three circles. It is most commonly a symbol of the Holy Trinity (Father, son, Holy spirit) used by the Celtic Christian Church, sometimes stylized as three interlaced fish.

Writes Nick: ” In the celtic triple spiral, there is a space where the three spirals/circles connect. It is both a place of meeting and of sheer mystery. Its vast, vibrant emptiness reminds me that, in this life, we will nevr know the names of God”

  1. Mum! We’ve moved in! Well, i have. I shanghaid Saw Hoon, Stu and Irwin to help me shift our entire worldly goods to the new flat. I’ve just got the PC up and running, but unfortunately the skirting board is not dry, and we have no chairs, so there’s a bit of a way to go. I’ll get a pic uploaded soon. The living room is a kind of strong green, which needs a few hours to get used to. Lottie is still at work- has been all day, so I can’t imagine what she’ll make of it when she sees it in 45 minutes time.

Love you! Pics will follow soon,
