Time like an ever rolling stream…

Time never stands still as time pieces small and great have told us over the centuries. Here is a splendid replica of  The Wallingford Clock in St Albans Abbey which was originally installed in the mid 14th century and made by Richard of Wallingford, Abbot at St Albans 1327-1336

” It was amazingly advanced for its time being one of the very earliest mechanical clocks. In addition to striking the hour, the lock included an Astronomical section which showed the current position of the stars, sun and moom and current phase of the moon. Not only this, it also predicted lunar eclipses. It also had  symbolic representation of the mythical dragon, which was supposed to have eaten the moon whenever an eclipse appeared”

Millions of words have been written by people trying to understand time. But in quiet moments, I reflect on how with the passing of time some things change so emphatically

“Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity.” Henry Van Dyke

Here is a photo of my mother when she was a baby at Sandbanks with her father Will Trimby: mildreds011

And now, nearly 86yrs old, she is frail and can do very little for herself again.

But for those who love, time is eternity…
