Church full, kids singing

school end of term

Here is Great Paxton Church full of staff and pupils from the local school for the end of term service. The last time the headteacher  Mrs Manning( in yellow)  was in the chancel was for the sleep-over in June in her tent – but now she and the school community were together for a wonderful end of term service. Marvellous singing from the children – they were really into Shine Jesus Shine and ” You’ve got to move when the spirit says move”  ((new on me) and with the vibrant Winnie on the organ – I think its safe to say the place rocked. ( Doesnt quite do that on a Sunday!)

Year 6 children, the leavers, read out some of the memories they will take away with them and what came across so well was how much these young people have appreciated their time at the school. I got all the staff up at the end to sing a ditty to the tune of Clementine:

We are going on a journey

And the road ahead is long

Follow Jesus, follow Jesus

This shall be our travelling song

Follow Jesus, follow Jesus

Follow Jesus day by day

He will always be beside us

Let us follow and obey

Through the good times

Through the hard times

He will always be our friend

Follow Jesus, follow Jesus

And his love will never end

CHORUS

Now  the send of term is with us

May God bless us on our way

Follow Jesus, follow Jesus

He’s our constant guide each day

Eminently adaptable – feel free to use – great to sing in the car!

Great kids, super school – and a very happy holiday to them all.
