    Yes, well spotted – the rope effect stonework is in the choir stalls at St James – I think there is a similar one on a pillar further down the south aiale. The same design ( or very like) is to be found on stonework in the passageway leading to the lady chapel at Ely Cathedral.

    I’ll try to post you a picture of the ‘angled piscina’ at Wimbotsham Church (W. Norfolk) it too has a very similar design like a knotted tail, or a twist. It’s very similar to what some bakers do with a piece of dough, I’ve seen small bread rolls of this shape as well.
