Sunday afternoon Vicarage Mystery

Yes, never a dull moment here at St James Vicarage. With just a few spare moments after sunday lunch before an afternoon baptism, I am now trying to solve a mystery. A few days I arrived home to find near to the door step two large boxes of fruit. I thought they were nice co0king apples – until I looked inside yesterday and found that they arent. What are they? Who left them?

Unfortunately, many of them are rather ” gone off” – and having cut one open they give a rather sharp taste – certainly  I dont think  they are pears.

So here, in glorious colour, are some pictures of these posing fruits – does anyone recognize them???

Strange things – can anyone shed light on what they might be??

Thats enough excitement for one afternoon – off to Great Paxton again now.

  1. They are quince. My daughter has a great recipe for quince cheese that I’ll pass on – won’t matter unduly that they look a bit past their best!
