Little Paxton Bell being cast at Taylors – September 1st 2011

At last, some pictures from the Little Paxton bell casting at Taylors Foundry on September 1st 2011.

Enjoy!

I found it a fascinating visit and the actual casting dramatic, very warm and a rather emotional experience.

The casting begins on the foundry floor.

We are observing the process from the viewing gallery.

The molten metal is poured into the mould underground in a pit.

The process complete….. time now will allow the bell to set.

And several weeks later…..here it is.

It should last a good 2,000 years..

Pax Vobiscum! is the inscription on the bell.
