And even a new tee-shirt….
Back from the most marvellous scarecrow festival ever – in Little Paxton Village. Today was the judging day plus lots of fayre type activities on the village playing fields and I had a fun time announcing what was going on from 10.30am this morning. There were local dancers ( Heartsease and Polka Dots) and Nordic Walkers along with a variety of stalls and side shows. Heart FM arrived c 2pm and Emma Saint who introduces the breakfast show announced the winners – 6 in all. ” Bill and Ben” won – though sorry, Im not sure quite where they were situated in the village. A local man had even made some tee-shirts especailly for the occasion and someone bought me a XL one which I proudly sported all day. Great stuff, one of the best ways of being involved in village life – and now im putting my feet up! The Eurovision Song Contest is going to be a pale shadow in comparison. Tomorrow is Rogation Sunday when for years prayers have been offered for a successful harvest. There is a Deanery Rogation Walk around Paxton Pits at 3pm leaving the visitore centre at 3pm…. I might just have the energy after 4 services beforehand! Its good to be out in nature and good to be connected with people – that’s what we are here for after all…. God came into our world to become just like one of us – Emmanuel – God with us – clergy not least need to be connected with the people with whom we spend our days. And now I’ve got the tee-shirt to prove it!
